6 Days Uganda Birding Safari
This 6 Days Uganda birding safari : takes you to Semliki National Park which is one of the top birding destinations in Uganda with over 441 recorded species. There are 46 Guinea-Congo biome bird species which cannot be found anywhere else in East Africa, 35 of these are only found in 2-3 other parts of Uganda and 5 Albertine Rift endemics species. Species to look out for include; Maxwell’s Black Weaver, Nkulengu Rail, Red-billed helmet-Shrike, Yellow-throated Cuckoo, Piping Hornbill, Red-billed Dwarf Hornbill, Black Dwarf Hornbill, Great blue and Ross’s Turaco, WhiteThen and more. Kibale national park also having some birding spots with different bird species. Then conclude with Lake Mburo national park; best for water and acacia associated birds. There are different species observed at different locations and these include; the Rufous-bellied Heron, Bateleur, Coqui Francolin, Grey Crowned Crane, Black-bellied Bustard, Brown-chested Lapwing, Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, Brown Parrot, Red-headed Lovebird, Ross’s Turaco, Bare-faced Go-away-bird and many more.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: arrival Entebbe airport-Transfer to your Hotel
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by one of our representative from Great Nest Image Safaris who will brief you about this 6 days Uganda birding safari. You may decide to spend the afternoon at Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, home to captive animals and over 170 species of birds Plus some notable 7 species of weavers, such as the rare Northern Masked Weaver and Orange Weaver depending on the time of arrival or check in your lodge to rest. Overnight at your booked hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Semuliki national park
Leave Entebbe after breakfast for the fascinating drive through papyrus swamps and thick jungle of the Nile Delta enroute to Fort portal you shall go birding along the way and reach Semuliki national park in the evening and check in direction in your lodge. At night you may choose to do birding in the savanna looking for nightjars and owls. Dinner and overnight stat at your lodge.

Day 3: Depart Semuliki national park-Transfer to Kibale national park
Today morning is entirely dedicated for birding. You will carry packed lunch and head for a full day birding in the forest. You will have chance of birding on the main road or one of the trails in the forest. We might come across the African Emerald Cuckoo, Purple-headed Starling, Black-billed Turaco, Yellow-billed Barbet, and Grey-throated Barbet among out countless bird species. Later after lunch, you will transfer to Kibale national park. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 4: Birding in Kibale national park
After morning breakfast, you may choose to go to Bigodi Wetland or take one of the trails in the Park to look for the stunning Green-breasted Pitta, Fire-crested Alethe, Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, colorful butterflies and other species of primates. You will return for lunch at the lodge and later proceed to Lake Mburo national park reaching late in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Day 5: Birding in Lake Mburo national park
After morning breakfast, you will go for a nature walk guided by the park ranger. Lake Mburo is the only national park where you can experience a safari on foot. You will encounter many bird species of wetland and also savannah birds, impalas and other wildlife. Late in the afternoon a game drive along the Zebra Track may reveal bird species such as Coqui Francolin, Black Bellied Bustard, Temmricks Courser, and African Wattled Plover, Rufous napped and Flappet Lark, Rufous Chestesd Swallow and many more. Also look out for the elusive leopard and other nocturnal species. Dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.

Day 6: Depart Lake Mburo national park-Transfer to Entebbe
On your way out of the park, you will go for an early game drive along the Lakeside Track. This will give you the chance to spot some water birds like the lesser and Great Swamp Warbler, White Winged Warbler, Papyrus Gonolek, Papyrus Yellow Warbler and at times the elusive Shoebill. You will return to Kampala/Entebbe with lunch en route and a stop at the equator for photos and some shopping. You will continue to Kampala/Entebbe where you will be dropped at the airport for your flight home or at your hotel.

Transport
Standard 4X4 Safari Vans/Land cruisers
Our standard mode of transport is by road and we use 4×4 Safari van and Land cruisers with open roof tops customized for game viewing and photography. Each Safari van/Land cruiser comes with a professionally trained driver/guide with fuel for the whole safari. Each client is entitled to a window seat and can take up to 8-10 people. We also have very comfortable super customs which can carry up 6 people with their luggage also have small vehicles like Alphads, Harrier and much more that can carry 4-5 people.
