2 Days Murchison falls safari
This 2 Days Murchison falls safari: will take you to Murchison Falls National Park also referred to as Kaberaga Falls is Uganda’s largest protected area and one of the most exciting to track animals, bird watching such as the shoebill, Giant Kingfisher, Giant Heron, Abyssinian Ground Hornbills, Standard-winged Nightjar, Marabou stork, Black headed lapwing and much more, primate watching and boat cruise viewing with lion, elephant, hippo, buffalo and Rothschild’s giraffe being particularly common along the north bank of the Nile. The Murchison falls is the most electrifying sight of its type in East Africa, with the fast-flowing but wide Nile being transformed into an explosive froth of thunderous white water as it funnels through a narrow cleft in the Rift valley Escarpment. The park supports at least over 144 mammals, over 556 bird species, over 52 reptiles, and 51 amphibian species.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe – Murchison Falls National Park – Top of the Falls – Boat Cruise
After breakfast, you will be picked up by one of our representatives from Great Nest Image Safaris and thereafter you will transfer to the magnificent Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park with lots of natural wonders. You will start up your journey to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking, a large preserve where Rhinos are bred. Your next stop will be in Masindi town for lunch and thereafter proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. As you enter the park you will go to the top of the falls that make Murchison Falls National Park so famous. This is a place for most memorable pictures and taking in of the sounds and sights, including the rainbow that does not disappear, created by the mist of the falls. The top of the fall is spectacular, being so close to the falls and seeing the splendor from the top is such a wonderful experience.
Later you will check in your lodge to freshen up and thereafter you will go for your boat/launch cruise on the Nile River to the most powerful falls in the world. This will take around 3 hours and while on the cruise, you will view different animals like the crocodiles, hippos, elephants, different bird species like kingfishers, herons, the rare shoebill and much more. You can also choose to do the hike from the water’s edge up to the top of the falls if you missed it at the time of arrival into the park which costs a few dollars and it is well worth doing.

Optional Activities
Chimp tracking
Trackers set off in up to six guided groups, each comprising up to three people; at 08:00 then again at 14:00. Tracking at Kaniyo Pabidi is not easier and the success rate currently stands at around 80% with most groups locating chimps within an hour of setting off, in which case the full activity should take around 3 hours thou it may take longer if the chimps are more difficult to locate. Permits costs $80 per person while a full day habituation experience allowing up to two people taking a minimum of 6 hours costs $155 per person and the activity starts at 07:00.
Bird walks
Kaniyo Pabidi protects a similar range of species to Budongo Forest and the best place to look for birds is around the lodge, especially the gallery forest along the main road which offers good views into the canopy and can be explored freely and without a guide. Among the species observed include; shrike-flycatcher, wattle-eye, little greenbul, chestnut winged starling, pygmy kingfishers and much more.
Fishing excursions
There is good fishing along the Murchison Nile, with large Nile perch and tiger fish offering the main challenge. Sport fishing permits must be bought from Uganda Wildlife Authority at a cost of $50 per person per day.
Base of the falls
The 3 hour return launch trip to the base of Murchison Falls has been Murchison falls national park’s most popular attraction since 1959 when the Queen of England made an inaugural voyage in a spanking new boat. Game viewing along the way is excellent and expect to see hippos in their hundreds along with some of the crocodiles and small herds of buffalo, waterbuck, kobs, giraffe among others. Bird life is also stunning such as the goliath heron, African jacana, saddle-billed stork, African skimmer, yellow-backed weaver, pied and malachite kingfishers, the rare shoebill and much more. Here double-decker boats and used, they take 2-3 hours while on water and the boat costs $30 per person per day.
Primate Watching
We organize very rewarding primate watching trips led by very knowledgeable forest guides who will guide you as you explore the forest in search for the different primates such as baboons, the red tailed monkeys as well as the black & white colobus monkeys, may be to add to this, in case you are really fortunate you may be able to see some chimpanzees. You will see some birds and even learn about a couple of medicinal plants within the forest.
