3 Day Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Tour
This 3 Day ngamba Island Chimpanzee tour: will take you to the Chimpanzee Island found on Lake Victoria, where you will see rescued and orphaned chimpanzees that receive safety, care and extraordinary love. The Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary was primarily established to offer shelter to the rescued and orphaned chimpanzees.
Ngamba Island is surrounded by the fresh waters of Lake Victoria and is a home of over 49 chimpanzees whereby the 3 were luckily born on this Island. This Island provides an excellent secondary forest habitat for the chimpanzees and other wildlife species including fruit bats, spiders, fish eagles and monitor lizards.

DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Travel to Ngamba Island
After breakfast, you will be picked by one of our representatives from Ssemambo Alex Tours & Travel who will brief you about this 3 days trip and after you will transfer to Ngamba Island on a motor boat, this will take you around 45 minutes to reach the Island. Basing on the time you reach you might find the chimpanzees being fed, whereby you will watch them feed and play and here you can also take part in feeding them. You will check in your lodge for lunch and later in the afternoon you will visit the neighboring communities. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 2: Chimpanzee viewing – Chimpanzee feeding
After an early morning breakfast, you will be led by the care-givers to the raised platform where you will have a chance to clearly observe and feed these playful apes. Listening to the sound and observing how the chimpanzees call out for food is quite amazing an experience! It will be a unique experience as you observe the chimps feed, play, care for each other and rest.
You will return back to the lodge to have lunch and to also relax. Later in the afternoon, you will go for a sunset boat cruise on Lake Victoria which takes approximately 1 hour and while here, you will be able to see the nice sights around the lake, birds, land-forms, fishing grounds among others. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3: Transfer back to Entebbe -The mainland
After breakfast, you will begin the journey back to the mainland. You will have a stopover at the Uganda-Equator to observe your boat being thrust by forces from both the North Pole and South Pole, making it almost stationary in one place. If you are keen enough, you will notice that the boat engine will use more energy in order to sail past the Equator line crossing. For those of you who would like to enjoy a swim in these waters, you will have a chance to do so here before continuing to the mainland. If interested in swimming, this is the right point and you will be allowed a couple of minutes to enjoy the waters before proceeding with the journey. Later you will be transferred to the Airport to catch up your flight.

How to get to Ngamba Island
- Speedboat travel from the dock in Entebbe to Ngamba Island is approximately 45-50 minutes.
- Travel by traditional motorized canoe takes approximately 90 minutes.
- By air it’s approximately 20 minutes from Entebbe Airport or Kajjansi Air strip.
It is also possible to reserve chartered boats for large groups and group events as well as helicopters. Please contact our company and we will gladly assist you in reserving your transportation to the island.
